Capabilities:

The Mebane facility, IATF-registered for quality since 2014, covers 50,000 square-feet of production area, has (2) independent paint lines for metal and plastics capabilities respectively, and is served by five shipping and receiving docks. The metal liquid paint line accommodates parts up to 90 inches long with extensive masking capabilities, allowing for precision coating of the most intricate parts. The plastic paint line accommodates parts up to 42” x 54” and allows for high-volume liquid painting services to Tier 1 suppliers of interior automotive components for numerous OEMs. Capable of applying water- and solvent-based coatings, Mebane’s plastic painting capabilities meets a full range of automotive specifications and requirements for a diverse customer base. Additional services include light assembly and finessing for high-gloss components

Environmentally Friendly

The Mebane plant utilizes water-based epoxy with low VOCs and HAPS on metal components. For plastic components, the facility utilizes low VOC and HAPS Urethane water-based coatings almost exclusively while retaining the capability to utilize solvent-based Urethane coatings for specific applications. A state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system assures compliance with all environmental regulations, which includes limiting related emissions to less than half the plant’s annual allotment.

  • Fully supported by an A2LA Corporate Performance Test laboratory – saving you time and money on outside testing costs
  • Fully equipped chemical laboratory and trained technicians – assuring the highest level of quality in our process control
  • Process Monitoring and Controls (PMC) System – inline sensors monitor and control more than 200 coating process parameters, providing daily and historical statistical process control charting
  • On-going team training programs

Accountability

The plant is equipped with the MetoKote Inventory Tracking System (MITS2), which provides immediate “real time” data on the status of parts being coated. In addition, Mebane offers full EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) capabilities.

A message from Chairman and CEO Michael H. McGarry

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.

At the center of our company’s purpose is a commitment to “protect and beautify the world.” Today, the word “protect” is taking on an even greater significance to all of us. We are focused on protecting our people, customers and all of our stakeholders.

I want to share steps that our global PPG team is taking to proactively navigate these unprecedented times.

First, as the coronavirus began impacting China and subsequently spreading quickly around the world, PPG instituted proactive safety measures including immediately restricting all employee travel to, from and within countries considered high risk. We then put into place travel bans preventing all travel for non-essential purposes.

We are providing ongoing instructions and communications with employees on this issue, encouraging heightened awareness of general hygiene precautions, social distancing and adjusting operations according to regulations and our customers’ needs. We have directed our office employees to work remotely and have put actions in place globally at all our facilities, stores, distribution centers, and labs to ensure we keep our people safe. We continue to comply with and support all government regulations and public-health guidelines around world.

PPG people are committed to operating safely and providing the products and services that you count on. This is what inspires us and we call it “The PPG Way.” As we look at our supply chain, we are continually assessing all of our critical products and are actively working to assure we have the products available for you.
